Royal Flying Doctor Service is the most famous air ambulance service in Australia. It is well known as “The Flying Doctors”. This air ambulance provides services to people who are living in the distant regions of Australia.

Royal Flying Doctor Service was commenced in 1928. Initially, it is known as the Aerial Medical Service. This research was found in Queensland. Reverend John Flynn was structured this service. He was the primary supervisor of the AIM (Australian Inland Mission).
The missionary work of Flynn included the founding of hospitals in society. But, this air ambulance was not helped people who were lived faraway from main society.
In the starting year of missions, the air ambulance service has flown about twenty thousands miles in fifty flights. And then, this air ambulance has become the primary wide-ranging ambulance service in all over the world.

The Commercial Federal Council for the Company was founded in 1936. The name of this ambulance service has changed from Royal Flying Doctor Service to Flying Doctor Service in 1942. The first nurse of this air ambulance was Sister Myra Blanche. The nurses of medical crew of this ambulance were known as Flying Sisters.
