East Midlands Ambulance Service

East Midlands Ambulance Service is common ambulance service, which was commenced in April of 1999. In fact, this ambulance is the outcome of the combination of the Leicestershire, Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire air ambulance services.

NHS Trust of Air Ambulance Service is covered the region more than two thousands and seven hundreds sq miles. A headquarter of this air ambulance is situated in the Nottingham. Every year, this ambulance service is received approximately 284,000 real emergency calls. The East Midlands Ambulance Service is enlarged its region for covering the air ambulance provinces of Lincolnshire and Northants.

At past, the NHS Trust of Two Shires Ambulance Service provided Northants. It was created as outcome of the combination of the Bucks and Northants ambulance services.

But in the beginning of 2007, the Northamptonshire will provide by the East Midlands Ambulance Service, however, Bucks ambulance service is provided by Air Ambulance Service at South Central that is branch of Oxfordshire-Buckinghamshire.

As well as with Lincs and Northants will be provided by the East Midlands Ambulance Service and the NHS Trust of health transport service and former Lincolnshire Ambulance will be performed away with.

It means this Ambulance Service will enclose the six provinces that will be provided to more than four million citizens.

Board of the East Midlands Ambulance Service

A trust board is managed the East Midlands Ambulance Service and this trust board may include the following members:

  • One Chief Executive Officer
  • One Chairman
  • Five Non-Executive Directors
  • Five Executive Directors
  • One representative of the Health Council Society

Role of a trust board is to:

  • Approve main spending plans
  • Medicinal performance, Monitor financial and operational
  • Agree procedures and policies
  • Set Strategy
  • Agree Patient Service Plans

Responsibilities and roles of Executive Directors and Non-Executive Directors

Executive Directors – Executive Directors of the East Midlands Ambulance Service are performed duties related to management for special concerns of this ambulance service, which is known as personal portfolio. Although, they are shared combined responsibility for getting the corporate goals and overall performance of the Trust.

Non – Executive Directors – Non-Executive Directors are played an essential role in the development of this ambulance service. In addition, they are the advising and monitoring of all performance of the Trust. They also do a shadow convenience for the nominated Executive Director. Non-executive directors are getting information of local requires and makes strategies for development of this air ambulance service.
